2021 Public Annual Report: Delivering on our promises!
We completed around 73% of the water-related work we had planned. We are proud of this result in these extraordinary times. After all, restrictive coronavirus measures remained in place in 2021.
We are seeing increasing awareness of the role of water. When there is too much or too little water, it dominates the news and public debate. This is happening more and more often and with greater urgency. That is why it remains of the utmost importance that we deliver on our promises together with our partners and the people who live and work in our area of operation.
New water management program: robust work on water, customized solutions, and working together
In 2021, our general board adopted our new water management program. This program focuses strongly on the challenges in six sub-areas within our total working area. This makes the discussion with residents and partners about the issues at stake more recognizable, more specific, and more manageable for all involved. 2021 is the first year of implementation of the new water management program.
Our challenges can be summarized as follows:
- we must remain 'climate-ready';
- we are working towards a more natural water system;
- we set the agenda and facilitate spatial developments;
- we contribute to a sustainably designed area;
- We are a fit organization that works together on our tasks.
