Safety first
Visiting the treatment plant is at your own risk. Bacteria may be released at the treatment plant, which generally do not pose a risk. However, the bacteria released may be harmful to an unborn child/baby or to people in poor health. The water board therefore strongly advises against visiting the treatment plants for:
- pregnant women
- (elderly) persons in poor health

How does the water board treat wastewater? We treat wastewater in sewage treatment plants (STPs) and then discharge it into ditches, ponds, and canals.
